Achievement
Character
Excellence Program
The A.C.E.
Club program is held during the school year.
Our
Mission
The A.C.E. Club promotes interpersonal and
organizational success through group cooperation and a
supportive environment, while fostering meaningful
connections with the school community.
Our Commitment
The Kyrene School District and the Supplemental Student
Services Department recognize that young people today
face many difficult issues, problems and decisions. Low
academic achievement may be only one of the many social
needs. Students with the greatest needs can often show
signs of anti-social and/or negative behaviors, poor
academic habits, family issues or circumstances that may
interfere with learning. The A.C.E. Club is a program
that helps students, who feel unsuccessful in school,
focus on Achievement and character for Excellence, and
is the District's answer to addressing the students with
the greatest needs.
Our Program
A.C.E. meets before school and recruits district
teachers to provide vital morning interactions and offer
an inviting reason for students to attend school.
Teachers are available throughout the school day to have
meaningful associations with the students and their
classroom teachers. The teachers track and monitor any
areas of concern as well as the students daily academic
progress.
-
Leadership
The adventure leadership approach establishes
behavioral guidelines that recognize and respect the
skills, knowledge and strengths of each individual,
while valuing and supporting the groups as a whole.
Activities are designed to:
-
Increase group cooperation and productivity
through effective teamwork
-
Develop positive problem solving and
collaborative decision making skills
-
Increase positive self-esteem and build
self-awareness
-
Encourage appropriate social interaction while
reinforcing creativity and self-expression
-
Increase trust for one another while working
together to solve a common problem academics
-
Academics
Time is set aside for academic instruction and
structured homework completion. Teachers help
improve student's study skills by helping organize
folders, backpacks and agendas for the school year.
The student to teacher ratio is approximately seven
to one, allowing teachers to give the students the
concentrated help and instruction they need to
tackle more difficult academic situations.

Character
Character-building activities based around
trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness,
caring, and citizenship are used as a tool for
learning and understanding daily activities through
group discussions and debriefings. Students are
asked to evaluate themselves in specific situations
to create awareness of their surrounding and
acknowledgement for how they influence peers,
neighbors and surrounding community.
Your
Support
The A.C.E. Club is a program that is constantly seeking
revenue to support its expenses. Due to the nature of
the program, we have a strong belief that charging
tuition for students to attend would be ineffective.
However, the A.C.E. Club operates solely on grant funds
and community contributions, without such funding
sources the Supplemental Student Services Department is
unable to support the expense of the program.
