Preschool Philosophy and Child FindThe Kyrene School District recognizes that education is a developmental process that begins at birth, well before a child is eligible to enroll in Kyrene as a kindergartener.  A child’s level of preparedness for school and potential for learning once he/she becomes school-age encompasses all the physical, social, emotional, linguistic, creative and cognitive aspects of his/her early growth and development.

To ensure that young children are ready for success in school, Kyrene provides several different Preschool programs that embrace developmentally appropriate teaching and assessment practices, strengthen efforts in family involvement and professional development for staff, and work with community agencies and organizations as appropriate to provide effective services to children and families.

These include:  Kyrene Special Programs Preschool; Kyrene Early Learning Centers; Kyrene Montessori Program; and Maricopa County Head Start Program.  All Kyrene Preschools are licensed by the AZ Department of Health Services and meet or exceed their standards. To learn more about these standards, go to www.hs.state.az.us/als/childcare  In Arizona, early intervention services for children ages birth to three years are also provided through the Arizona Early Intervention Program.  For more information, Call Child Find at (602) 364-4015 or visit the Child Find web site at www.ade.az.gov/ess/childfind.  If you live in Kyrene School District and your child is at least 2 years and 9 months, you may also obtain further information by contacting Kyrene Special Programs Preschool at 783-4156 to see if your child is eligible for services.
