We Shall Remain Essay Contest - Submissions Due Tomorrow!
The Native American Parent Advisory
Committee (NAPAC) is proud to sponsor an Essay Contest in celebration of
the ground breaking PBS miniseries We Shall Remain. We
Shall Remain is a provocative multi-media project that establishes
Native history as an essential part of American history. Five
90-minute documentaries spanning three hundred years tell the story of
pivotal moments in US history from the Native American perspective.
The Essay Contest is open to all Kyrene kindergarten through eighth grade
students and submissions are due by May 20, 2009. Prizes will be
awarded to the top three essays. Please
read the details and encourage your child to participate!

Thank You To Our Amazingly Dedicated Volunteers
NAPAC
celebrated the end of the school year with all Native American students
and their families on Friday, May 15th. Families enjoyed food, games
and prizes while meeting new friends and connecting with old
ones.
Our dedicated Parent Advisory Committee Executive Board and members work
extremely hard all year raising funds through fry bread sales so they
may offer cultural, social and celebratory events. Please join us
in thanking Stacy King, Dani Hendricks, Lenore Haskie-Franklin, Genny
Smiley, Rosemarie Jones and
Sharon Tom.
A better team cannot be found!

Mammograms for Uninsured Women Available
The Arizona
Department of Health Services has funds to pay for mammograms for
uninsured women or those with high deductibles (greater than $100)
for screening services. Qualified candidates must be 40 years of
age or older. Also, if further diagnostics or treatment is needed,
ADHS will be able to pay for that follow-up as well.
Please
call 480-967-3767 or 1-800-285-0272. The MOM (Mobile on
site Mammography) staff will qualify you and give you an option of
locations.
ADHS would very much like to use these funds to benefit local
uninsured and underinsured women.
