Native American Parent Advisory Committee  2009/10 Officers

Thank you to the parents who volunteered and were elected to the Kyrene Native American Parent Advisory Committee Executive Board.  NAPAC plays an integral part in the design and implementation of effective services for our Native American students.  They also sponsor many activities to foster the Native American community within our district, including: fry bread sales, arts and crafts afternoons and cultural events.  Please come out to an upcoming event and thank these wonderful parents!

Donations and Volunteers Needed!

NAPAC will be hosting fry bread booths at the Akimel A-al Multi-Cultural Festival on Wednesday, October 21 and at the Mirada Fall Festival on October 30.  This is a great opportunity to meet other families and have some fun.  NAPAC will use the funds raised at their sales to benefit students in need and to provide a celebration for all Native American students at the end of the school year.  Donations needed include:  flour, ranch beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, honey and of course, your time and fellowship.  To donate or volunteer, please call Terry.

FREE Vaccination Clinic

To help you receive the seasonal flu vaccines, NATIVE HEALTH is hosting two Seasonal Flu Shot Clinics, Thursday, October 8th from 3-7 p.m. and one Tuesday, October 27th, from 4-7 p.m. at NATIVE HEALTH-Central.  These flu shots are free for Native Americans (with Tribal ID) and $20.00 for the general public.  For more information on flu shots/clinics please call Melissa at (602) 279-5262 x 3408.

Native Foods & Craft Fair

Mark your calendars to attend thie 6th Annual Native Foods & Craft Fair at Pueblo Grand Museum.  Spend the day enjoying crafts, food, hands-on activities, demonstrations, a pumpkin patch, frybread and a watermelon eating contest.  Admission and activities are free.

2009 American Indian Youth Conference

The American Indian Youth Conference is a statewide education conference for American Indian students, grades 8 - 12 that aims to support, encourage, and provide the necessary resources for students to achieve their education and career goals.

Times may be hard, but there are still an abundance of resources available to help YOU!  Find out what you qualify for at www.azselfhelp.org!  Arizona Self Help prescreens eligibility and provides information on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the new federal name for the Food Stamp Program) and other programs such as:  WIC, School Meals, Emergency Food Assistance, Section 8 Hoursing Assistance, Utility Discount Programs, AHCCCS, Kids Care, Children and Senior Resources and Services.
