Happy Wednesday, February 8th, Monte Vista Families!

Love is in the air and we want to express our love for all the Mountain Lion families out there and invite everyone to spread a little extra cheer, lend a helping hand, and flash an extra big smile at someone this month!  Nothing brings folks together like joining one another to create joy and fun for our children within their school community and there are lots of ways to do that this semester with all the exciting spring events happening over the next few of months!  Take a look below and decide how you're going to participate!

  Student Store

The Student Store is happening this Friday, Feb 10th, from 7:15 to 7:40am!  Items range from 50¢ to $2.00 and include pens, pencils and other useful and fun school supplies.  Proceeds benefit the 5th Grade End of Year Celebration.  Our younger students LOVE knowing that their purchases help fund this event for the 5th graders so remind them to bring their allowances and support their upperclassmen and their school this Friday!

 Sweetheart Dance, THIS FRIDAY, 2/106-8pm:

For those of you who RSVP'd to this event, we look forward to seeing you this Friday!  Don't forget to dress in your best, bring your tickets, and wear a jacket or sweater in case the weather calls for it.  We have a magical evening of daddy-daughter fun and entertainment lined up for our attendees and we can't wait to see your smiling faces!  If you are not attending, why not help out that evening?  Click HERE to visit the Sign Up Genius page for this event and snag a volunteer slot - as little as 30 minutes is all it takes to help make this event a smash hit!  Hope to see you there!

Parent/Teacher Conferences 2/22 &2/23

If you haven't already, make sure you sign up for a conference slot with your child's teacher.  YOUR Monte Vista PTO will be providing dinner for our wonderful teachers and staff those evenings and if you'd like to help set up, clean up or plan dinner for those evenings, please email volunteer@mvpto.org.  Look for a Sign Up Genius page to go out next week for volunteer slots.  It's only take 30 minutes to help take care of our teachers so they can focus on our students and families!

 Spring Book Fair 2/21- 2/24

The Monte Vista Spring Book Fair is fast approaching and we need your help!  This event is one of our families' favorites and our amazing chairperson, Jeanni Crosson, has a spectacular book fair lined up for us that week!  She could use some volunteers so if you think you'd like to pitch-in, click HERE to view the Sign Up Genius page and snag a spot.  Even if you can't volunteer, we hope you'll stop by after school or before/after your parent-teacher conferences to replenish your home libraries and perhaps help your teachers restock their classroom libraries by purchasing a book or two from their wishlist.  The book fair will be open until 5pm on Tue, Fri and the following Mon, and until 7pm on Wed and Thur.  Hope to see you there!

 Costco Night

Make your list, check it twice, and head on over to Costco to shop for our teachers!  Every $100 earns us a ream of paper and there will be teacher wish lists available if you are interested in purchasing additional donation items for their classrooms.  Teacher appreciation week happens in May and it's not too early to stock up on items to show you care.  Whether it's an item from their classroom wishlist, something off their 'Favorite Things' list (available in the front office), or simply doing your normal shopping to earn paper for the school, YOU can make a difference in their lives that evening.  See you there!

NEW EVENT HAPPENING!- SAVE THE DATE- THE KMV ART SHOW 3/2

Our AMAZING art teacher, Ms. Potter-Wutich, is putting together a fantastic event to benefit specials at Monte Vista!  The KMV Art Show will showcase a thoughtfully chosen work of art from each student, matted and framed professionally.  They'll  be on display and available for sale that evening to take home as a treasured keepsake of your child's artistic talent!  Proceeds will go toward much needed supplies and improvements.  There will be food trucks to purchase from as well so come make an evening of it with us on March 2nd and help support the arts at Monte Vista!

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
We have lots of opportunities for you to get involved in your student's school community this semester and it's not too early to begin thinking about what role you'd like to play in YOUR PTO next year, either!  Please email volunteer@mvpto.org for more information on what you can do to contribute!  We have committees that plan events, organize teacher appreciation week activities, handle workroom requests, and more.  Whether you want to help put on an event or work throughout the year behind the scenes, there's a position to suit your preferences, talents and schedule!  We'll be working on recruiting new board members for next year very soon and we'd love to know if you're interested!  We are particularly hoping to find a Treasurer and SOON to begin training.  Most positions are co-positions, meaning you'd be learning from an outgoing member, and that means you'll be working collaboratively with your outgoing equivalent and the rest of the board.  We are a fun bunch of folks whose only goal is to do our best and support our school community in any way we can.  If that sounds like something you want to be a part of, contact us for more information.
