Kyrene continues to monitor the spread of H1N1 and flu like symptoms in each of our school communities.  The Maricopa County Health Department encourages immunization as a means of slowing the spread of influenza.  

FAQs Regarding Clinics

For those of you who were unable to bring your children to a Mollen Immunization Clinic held at Kryene schools in November, we have scheduled Mollen to come back to six locations this week. PLEASE NOTE: you may have received contradictory information from Mollen regarding the locations.

The locations listed below are those that KYRENE has booked. No other locations will be manned.

For  those of you who had children under 10 vaccinated at the clinics that ended November 23, the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends a second booster dose of flu vaccine for children in the following categories:

1.    Child is UNDER 9 yrs. old and received a SEASONAL FLU vaccine
(by injection or flu mist) for the first time ever.

2.    Child is UNDER 10 yrs. old and received an H1N1 FLU vaccine
(by injection or flu mist).

According to the CDC, these second booster doses should be given 21-28 days after the first dose for flu protection. 

Mollen FLU Vaccine and Booster Clinics will be offered at these Kyrene locations:

1.    Tuesday, Dec. 15 - 3:00 to 6:00 PM:  

Kyrene de la Paloma, 5000 W. Whitten Drive, Chandler, 85226

Kyrene de la Colina, 13612 S. 36th Street, Phoenix, 85044

C.I. Waggoner Elementary, 1050 E. Carver Road, Tempe, 85284

2.    Wednesday, Dec. 16 - 3:00 to 6:00 PM  

Kyrene de la Cerritos, 14620 S. Desert Foothills Parkway, Phoenix, 85048  

Kyrene de la Brisas, 777 N. Desert Breeze Blvd., East #1, Chandler, 85226

                        Kyrene de la Estrella, 2620 ER. Liberty Lane, Phoenix, 85048

**All children should be accompanied by a parent since these clinics are occurring after regular school hours.

ANY Kyrene student may attend ANY clinic at a Kyrene location.

Kyrene has agreed to offer locations at schools for Mollen Immunization Clinics, during after-school hours. Parents are encouraged to sign up for these on-line and bring their Kyrene students to get the immunizations.  It is our understanding  that  clinics will offer families both the H1N1 vaccine as well as seasonal flu shot for a fee.

This clinic is not administered by Kyrene so, if you have questions, it is best to call Mollen at 480-214-2000 or the see the list of FAQs below.

1.)   Can you bring children who are not Kyrene students?  These clinics are put on for Kyrene schoolchildren by Mollen. Check their website for more information on who is eligible.

2.)  How will people register? There is online registration at www.flushotsusa.com

3.)  What about parents who cannot go online?  There will be paper registration forms at the site.

4.)  Is there a fee?  There may be.  You need to check with your insurance provider and the online registration to make that determination.
