Interested in Pursuing an Administrative Certificate?
Kyrene, in conjunction with Chapman University, would like to continue its partnership in providing administrative coursework to individuals who already have a Master's degree and would like to meet the requirements for an Arizona Principal Certificate. Participants may begin taking these classes any time a new class is offered. Principal certificate requirements can be found on the Arizona Department of Education’s Web site.

The next course that will be offered in Kyrene is Legality of School Finance for Administrators taught by Fred Stone, Business Manager of Higley Unified School District. Kyrene Reading Resources Open House Well Attended
The Kyrene School District is in the process of adopting a comprehensive core reading program that will serve as a foundation for reading instruction at all grade levels beginning in the 2005-2006 school year. The Reading Steering Committee has narrowed the resources to three K-6 companies and three 6-8 companies.

On the evenings of January 24 and 25, three K-6 reading companies and three 6-8 reading companies involved in Kyrene’s reading adoption process presented their materials to 81 Kyrene teachers and administrators that attended. The evaluations completed by participants will be data that the Reading Adoption Committee will consider in selecting a reading company for K-6 and 6-8 teachers.

Kindergarten through eighth grade reading materials will be on display at all middle schools and at the Ben Furlong Center through March 1, 2005. We encourage Kyrene staff to review materials at any of the middle school sites. Parents and other interested community members are welcome to review the reading resource materials that are on display in the Curriculum and Assessment Department at the Ben Furlong Center from 8:00 – 4:00 pm. Feedback forms will be available for Kyrene staff, parents, and community members.
