Educational Salary Credit

Certified employees are eligible for educational salary credit at the beginning of their contract or at the beginning of the second semester or both. It is the employee’s responsibility to:

Step 1 – Submit Notice of Intent for educational salary credit by yearly deadline of February 15 for the next contract year.

Step 2 – Submit Pre-Approval for every educational salary credit course, workshop, and project:
             
Step 2A – University/District/Other Course

              Step 2B– District or Non-District Workshop/Project
              Step 2C – District or Non-District Workshop/Project Performance Assessment Completion

Step 3 – Submit transcripts, grade slips, or other acceptable documentation for final approval by yearly deadlines of October 15 and February 15.  Human Resources will begin processing completed Step 3 applications no sooner than August 1 of each school year.  All applicants who submitted the Step 1 Notice of Intent form by the February 15 deadline of the prior school year and:
     » meet the October 15 deadline for submission of the Step 3 Application form and supporting documents will
        receive amended contracts retroactive to the beginning of the contract date
                  
     and/or
     » meet the mid-year February 15 deadline for submission of the Step 3 Application form and supporting
        documents will receive amended contracts for half the school year no sooner than January 15.
The amended contract will be issued in the amount agreed upon during the Meet & Confer process and is based upon full-time employment (less than full-time employment is pro-rated based upon FTE). T

District salary credit may be earned by attending a cluster of technology classes equaling a minimum of 15 hours of instruction time for certified staff and 9 hours of instruction time for support staff.  All classes in the technology cluster should be submitted on the Step 2A form.  Attach a detailed list of all course numbers, course names, and a brief description of each course in the cluster.
