Certified Substitute Rates of Pay:
Daily
rate:
$ 85.00/day
Long Term/highly qualified:
$120.00/day
Long Term/not highly qualified:
$105.00/day
Part Time Kyrene teachers who substitute:
$120.00/day
Part Time Kyrene teachers who substitute
(21+days in same
position):
per diem rate from 1st day of assignment
Kyrene teachers on non-compensable leave (w/prior HR approval) $120.00/day
Permanent Substitute:
$105.00/day
Retired Kyrene Teacher:
$125.00/day
In
addition, there is a bonus paid on the last pay day that is based on the
number of days worked:
Bonus Structure:
60
- 99
days: $200 (to be
paid at the end of the year)
100+ days:
$300 (for a total of $500 to be paid at the end of the year)
Bonuses are cumulative with a maximum paid of $500.00 per year and paid at the
end of the year.
As a Certified Substitute, we pay
by the following scale: up to 4 hours- .5 of daily approved rate of pay,
up to 6.5 hours - .80 of daily approved rate of pay and up to 8 hours - 1.0 of
daily approved rate of pay. A full day assignment is defined as NORMAL school hours.
If you are a long-term guest teacher in a single continuous assignment, you will be paid
$85.00 for the first 20 instructional days. The rate of pay increases to $105.00/day
if the guest teacher is not highly qualified and $120.00/day if the guest
teacher is highly qualified on the 21st instructional day for the duration of
the assignment. After completing the long-term assignment, the Guest Teacher
will be placed back to $85.00/day.
Retired Kyrene Teachers will
receive the rate of $125.00 per day when subbing in a certified position.

and fingerprint clearance may take up to several weeks to obtain. For

SUPPORT
APPLICANTS:
Thank you for your interest as a support staff substitute in the Kyrene School
District. Applications for support substitute positions are always accepted.
Positions include: Health Assistant Substitute, Office Substitute,
Instructional Assistant Substitute, and Instructional Assistant Sr.
Substitute.
Support Substitute Rate of Pay:
Instructional Assistant Level 1 $8.50/hr
Instructional Assistant Level 2 $9.60/hr
Office/Clerical
$8.50/hr
Health Assistant
$10.00/hr
Retired Kyrene Support Staff receive one step above entry level for
classification of position they are subbing in.
In addition, there is a bonus paid on the last pay day that is based on the
number of days worked:
Bonus Level 1: $120.00 (60-99 full days worked)
Bonus Level 2: $180.00 (100 or more full days worked)
Bonuses are cumulative with a maximum paid of $300.00 and paid at the end of
the year.
