District salary credit may also be earned by attending Kyrene School District sponsored classes that are offered by Human Resources Services, Instructional Services, and Technology Services.  Retroactive to May 31, 2005, classes taken through these divisions are pre-approved and may be credited, without the need to cluster, or be pre-approved, toward the 15-hour requirement for future salary credit movement.  These classes are labeled in the PGO as “available for salary credit” and will continue to be credited under the standards outlined in the Meet and Confer document. The District transcript of completed classes should be submitted for salary credit as indicated in the Meet and Confer document. There is a time limit of 10 years on classes eligible for credit. Classes taken before May 31, 2005 are not eligible for retroactive credit except the following: CUR 450/451/452 The New Scott Forseman Math Series, CUR 461/462 Holt Middle School Series and the Kyrene Math Curriculum/Connected Math.

Beginning February 6, 2006, to support the cost of instructors and materials for district sponsored classes, there will be a $5.00 fee for each hour of instruction (i.e., a 15-hour course will cost $25.00).  This fee should be paid by check at the first meeting of a course.  Some classes, when necessary, may be offered at a higher rate to cover the required cost of speakers and materials.  Some classes will be offered at no cost when costs have been paid by alternative funding sources such as grants.
