Your
school’s health office staff strive to help keep students healthy and in
school. School health office staff are available to help with your
child’s medical needs. Please notify the health office if your child has
a health problem. School staff makes every effort to comply with
physicians’ recommendations.
Kyrene
Health offices are staffed by well-trained Health
Assistants, not registered nurses. Health Assistants manage students
with illnesses and accidents that occur at school. You may contact your
school's Health Assistant through your school's web site.
Registered nurses
provide medical consultation and training of the Health Assistants. Four
full time registered nurses cover the district’s six regions and are
available to assist in IEPs, 504s and other student meetings. The
registered nurses develop health care plans for students with chronic
illness and implement the student’s health care plan.
Special
Provisions for Students with Chronic Health Conditions
If you
have a child with a chronic health condition, please contact the health
assistant at your school. Parents of children with a severe allergy
should contact their child's school health office upon enrolling their
child. The parent will be asked to complete specific paperwork that
will be reviewed by the school health team, building principal and
classroom teachers.
