Here you will find safe, online standards based interactive activities and games for early childhood/primary students. There are great activities and resources for both math and language arts. 

Scholastic's Computer Lab Favorites provides
self contained interactive activities for all subject areas that can be used during your work station time or in the lab. Students can be directed to what you want them to do or you can have them spin the wheel to find an activity to do.

Integrating quality videos can enhance your classroom instruction. After you have activated your IDEAL account check out Discovery Education Streaming to locate videos that tie into your curriculum, are linked to standards, and have ready made lesson plans and activities. Log into to Ideal to check it out.


BrainPOP Jr. provides educational movies for K-3 learners. These movies can be used to support learning in each content area.  The movies cone with quizzes, games, activities, and lesson ideas that can be used to extend student learning of the concept be presented in each movie.


Encarta Kids can be found in ALL Programs to get there Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Encarta > Encarta Kids.  This tool provides students with age-appropriate articles and multimedia.  Students have access to kid friendly research material, maps, interactive diagrams, video and more.  There is even a function that allows students to have the text read to them  they simply highlight the text and press the F8 key and then they can turn it off by pressing F9.


Scholastic has created a resource if virtual field trips that can be used to support students learning. Each Internet Field Trip is designed to enrich the study of a specific curriculum theme or topic.  The web resources provided in each field trip can be used as a lesson-planning tool for teachers or may also be used to provide a guided research experience for students beginning to use the Internet independently.

To help your students find appropriate information on the Internet it is important to have them use kid safe search engines.  On this resource page you will find links to kid safe search engines and to resources to help teach your student effective search strategies.

Scholastic's Teach Now -Back to School Ideas
This page provides lots of great ideas, resources, and lessons/units  for the start of the year.  Check out the unit called Famous First Graders.  In this unit students  become reporters, photographers, and movie producers and interview each other as they become "Famous First Graders."  What a great way for students to start learning to work together and get to know one another.
