The Science Resource Center or SRC provides district level/central distribution of science kits.  The purpose of  central distribution through the SRC serves a couple of basic, yet hugely fantastic functions.

1.      All science kits are delivered to the school site

2.      All science kits are picked up from the school site

3.      All science kits are refurbished for the next teacher through the SRC

The science kits can be referenced to the specific grade level unit of study found on the Overview section of each grade level science webpage.  Please click the science webpage to find the grade level specific kits for each unit.  This will assist you in determining what kit you need to reserve based on the unit you will be studying.

Click here to "book" Science Kits through the SRC.

When you logon to Destiny, please make sure you;

1.  Select your school site

2.  Click the logon button in the top right corner

3.  Click on the "Catalog" tab

4.  Check to ensure that the IMC - Videos/SRC - Kits is selected with a check mark

Please do not reserve kits for other teachers.  Each teacher is responsible for ordering his/her own kit.

Things to determine before you reserve a science kit.

1.      What unit will you be facilitating?

2.      What science kit is associated with the specific unit of study?  See the overview on the grade level science web pages.

3.      When do you need to reserve the kit?  When do you want the kit to be picked up?  The time limit on a kit is 45 week days/9weeks.

To reserve a science kit through the SRC.

1.      Please click on the following link:  Destiny Library System

2.      Please click on your school name.  This will bring you to your school site.

3.      Please click on the logon box in the right hand corner.  You must be logged on to reserve or “book” a kit.

4.      Please click in the box IMC – Videos/SRC – Kits

5.      Please type SRC in the find box.  All available kits will then be listed.  If you would like to view by grade level, click on the Sort by button and choose to sort by Title.  This will list all of the kits by grade level.  Kindergarten will be listed at the end.

6.      Find the kit you would like to reserve and click on Add to My List.

You can continue to add kits to your list before you decide to “book” or  reserve all kits.  You can either view your list by clicking on View My List or by clicking on Details.

7.      Once you have either clicked on View My List or Details, click on Book It!

8.      The booking page has a calendar.  Please place the starting and ending date for reserving a specific kit.

9.      Click on Save.

10.  You will be given a prompt at the top of the webpage that shows the booking request in bold.

When you receive your kit from the SRC

1.      Please inventory the contents to make sure that nothing is missing or broken.  These are new kits so this could occur.  Please email Jerry Martinez if you receive a kit that contains missing or broken items.

When you return your kit to the SRC

When returning kits:  Remember that sharing is caring.  We are all sharing the science kits so please return them in an appropriate manner.  Please double check to make sure that the inventory is complete, teacher manuals are complete and not missing pages and all materials are closed and sealed before returning.

1.      Please carefully put items away, in an organized fashion before returning.  Leaving bags of sand open or caps unscrewed affects the next teacher that gets the kit.  Please make sure and take care of the supplies.  We will be contacting you if materials are not returned in an appropriate manner. This seriously affects the transition time and refurbishing time, which in turn can affect the next teacher.

2.      Please make sure that you complete a final inventory of the kit.  This includes not only the kit materials but the teacher’s manual and any trade books that are delivered with the kit.

3.      Please check to make sure that the teacher’s manual is complete and pages are not missing.  You will be contacted to find and return the missing pages.  It is critical that kits are taken care of and items, especially the teacher’s manuals, are ready to go for the next teacher.

4.      Please return your kit to your school sites designated pick up place on or before your due date.  We will not be accepting late kits this year.

Kits should be reserved under individual teacher accounts

Please reserve kits under your own name. We need to have the kits reserved under individual teacher’s name.

If you reserve under someone else’s name then any reminder emails will not come to you.  Any missing item requests or late kit requests will also be delivered to the person who booked the kit.

Please make sure that you book for your individual kits.
