NASA Educator Resource Center (ERC) Saturday workshops dates |
The first workshop will take place on Saturday, October 13th from 9:30-11:30 at the ERC in Prescott and will include information on using NASA’s ISS EarthKam and Mars Student Imaging projects and activities in your classroom. ISS EarthKAM is a NASA sponsored program that provides stunning, high quality photographs of our planet taken from the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. Participating students can take photographs of Earth by using the internet to direct a digital camera on select space flights and currently on the International Space Station. Those images can then be used to enhance learning and address standards in science, geography, mathematics, and technology. Iss EarthKAM: investigating Earth from the unique perspective of space. Mars Student Imaging Project is an opportunity for students to be involved in authentic Mars research. Teams of students in grades 5 through college sophomore level will have the opportunity to work with scientists, mission planners and educators on the THEMIS team, to image a site on Mars using the THEMIS visible wavelength camera onboard the Mars Odyssey spacecraft which is currently orbiting Mars every 2 hours. Let your students explore Mars… for REAL! Click here to subscribe to ERC mailing list and register for workshops.
