School-Age Programs (K-5th grade)
Participants in our School-Age programs (Kindergartners through 5th graders) will experience enriching, fun choices before and after school. Our hands-on, child-centered activities highlight self-awareness, cognitive expansion, physical development, creative expression, and recreational pursuits. School-Age programs implement the Kyrene Kids Club School-Age Activity Guide that was developed to help children learn through play-based activities. The Activity Guide, developed with the help of the Kyrene School District Curriculum Department, supports the Arizona Educational Standards and the Kyrene School District curriculum. We offer KinderClub, Before School, After School, and Emergency Childcare for school-age children.
Before and After School Programs
School-age children enjoy a variety of planned activities before school, after school, and on early release days. Each day, students choose to participate in many activities that include cooking, science exploration, board games, art, drama, story telling, indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) cooperative games and a minimum of 20 minutes of homework or quiet reading time. Children in the after school program also enjoy a healthy snack.
Early Release/1 day per week
Choose any one day of after school care, early release day or any other day (for safety we ask that the day chosen remain the same during the school year). Please see page 25 for information about changing your 1-day per week.
Between Schools Program
School-age children who attend an Elementary School and need childcare from the time the elementary school dismisses until 15 minutes after the region’s Middle School dismisses or 1 hour after the elementary school dismissal time, whichever is longer.
School-Age Emergency Childcare
In addition to our daily school-age programs, we offer an emergency childcare program. Perhaps you would like to be able to have access to our programs one day a month when you do volunteer work, or one day every few weeks when a late meeting is called. If you need childcare sporadically, you can purchase access to our school-age programs on a limited, short-term basis.
