Kyrene Athletic Program

Kyrene District Vision

Kyrene’s vision is to prepare all students to meet future educational and life challenges in order to make positive contributions to society.

Kyrene District Mission

To realize our vision, Kyrene seeks to inspire and engage our diverse community of students, staff, families and citizens to ensure continuous academic achievement and personal growth for every student.

About Kyrene Athletics
Each year, over 3,000 middle school students from the Tempe, Chandler, and Phoenix area participate in the Kyrene Athletic Program. This Program provides a positive, high quality after-school sports program that emphasizes participation, teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.

The Kyrene Athletic Program receives no funding from the District budget. The program costs of approximately $325,000 is funded through a combination of tax credits, participation fees, grants, business partnerships, business donations, "Sponsor a Kid" program, and proceeds from special events.

Kyrene offers athletic opportunities for boys and girls in soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, wrestling, cross-country, cheer, softball, and baseball.
New this school year (2007 - 2008) the athletic program is offering various participation opportunities for 5th and 6th grade students through athletic clinics and sport  intramural sessions.

For more information on when or where these clinics and intramurals will be offered, feel free to contact your school's student services secretary or call the Community Education/Athletics department at (480) 783-4060.
