of Tempe Police Department SACA Grant $2,000
This grant will fund two-thirds of the Behavioral Intervention Specialist
for the S.T.A.R. program. This Behavioral Intervention Specialist will provide
needed services to the students. By providing the enhancement of a Behavioral
Intervention Specialist, the S.T.A.R. program will provide daily resiliency
skill building for our at-risk middle school students. Additionally, through
character building activities these students will gain the skills needed to
become resilient to gang and violence activity and substance abuse.

Grant $53,000
This project will support the continuation of opportunities provided to our
Native American students. These opportunities include, tutoring, academic
enrichment clubs, Summer Academy, and a mentoring program. These resources
assist students in achieving the necessary skill set needed to increase their
academic achievement.

in Schools Programs(www.cisnet.org) Grant $35,000
Tempe/Kyrene Communities in Schools has supported Kyrene Community Education
programs since 1993. The CIS Mission is to champion the connection of needed
community resources with schools to help young people learn, stay in school,
and prepare for life. The programs were designed to meet the following goals:
Every young person will have the opportunity to finish school, Young people
will come to school ready to learn, All schools will be perceived as a safe
place by the students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
Funds are in support of the Quickstart Program, 9th Hour Intervention Program,
and partial support for the A.C.E. Club programs at Pueblo Middle School and
Kyrene Middle School.
