Kyrene Preparatory Program

About the Program

Kyrene Prep is a sixth, seventh and eighth grade program housed at Kyrene Middle School. This program provides opportunities for high-achieving, gifted and talented students. Founded on academic rigor, students will receive the personalized education from dedicated, Highly Qualified Teachers who specialize in the subject area they teach.

A small academic setting coupled with personalized teacher support will set a foundation for your student’s academic and personal success. The core curriculum, mandated by the State of Arizona, will be compacted, modified and adjusted as determined by the needs of the students.

The curriculum focuses on:

» Content (acceleration and enrichment)

» Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills and processes

» Research skills and science investigations

» Products/projects that will summarize and share learning with others

» Advanced Math (6th - Pre-Algebra, 7th - Algebra, 8th - Geometry)

» Advanced Language Arts (Critical Reading, Expanding Classic Novels

Application Process and Eligibility

How do I apply?

Contact the Kyrene Middle School office for application materials, test dates and times at 480-783-1000 or 480-783-1083.

What documentation do I need?

» Documentation of advanced ability in mathematics and language arts

» Appropriate scores on the entrance examination

» A completed “Teacher Evaluation Form” from the student’s current teacher

» A commendable progress report

» Two completed application forms (one completed by the parent and one by the student)

The Kyrene Preparatory Program committee reviews all documentation, and placements are made according to eligibility requirements and space availability.
