Letters About Literature is a national reading and writing contest for students in grades 4-12. Students are asked to read a book, poem, or speech and write to that author (living or dead) about how the book affected him/her personally.
In each annual National Merit Scholarship Program, about 50,000 academically talented high school students arehonored, but only some 16,000 of them are named Semifinalists.
The Flinn Foundation awards 20 Flinn full-ride scholarships to attend a state university and travel abroad. Four of the eight Southeast Valley High School graduates honored were former Kyrene Elementary District students.
