Tips for Accurate and Timely Test Results
This applies to the Standard Test Form, the
200-response answer sheet that is completed by students.
Teachers - Instruct your students to:
- fill each bubble completely.
- remove any stray marks on the bubble sheets.
- erase unintended bubbles completely and cleanly.
- use # 2 pencils. Responses in pen and colored markers will
not show up as answers.
For Teachers:
- The most important item on the student's answer sheet is the student's ID number.
The student ID number is the unique identifier for the student. Every sheet should have a
student ID number bubbled in.
- Do not change the name on a pre-slugged answer sheet and use
it for another student. The name will no
longer match the student ID pre-slugged on the sheet.
- If you did not receive an answer sheet for a student, obtain a blank answer sheet
from your Assessment Advocate. It is mandatory to bubble in the student ID number and
legibly write in the student's name, the grade level, and school name. The student ID
number can be obtained from an attendance bubble sheet, class roster, or from the school
office.
- Monitor to be sure that students have clearly bubbled their answer sheets. A good
quality bubble is one where you can't see the pre-printed character in the bubble.
- Suggest that students bubble with a moderate amount of darkness while taking the
test¾ allowing for clean erasure. Upon completion of the test,
students should darken their responses.
- Keep
sheets free of water, coffee and food.
- Organize and align sheets for scanning before turning them in to the Assessment
Advocate. They all need to be
facing the same way.
- When in doubt, don't hesitate to ask questions of your Assessment
Advocate or e-mail Student Assessment.
For Assessment Advocates:
- Send all scan sheets by the deadline even if you are missing a
few teacher's scan sheets. Email Jeff Weed the names of the teachers
whose sheets are missing. Send the remaining scan sheets ASAP. Remember,
late scan sheets delay receiving results.
- Be sure you have blank scan at your site to give out to teachers.
Poor quality answer sheets and missing or incorrect student ID numbers
slow down the scoring process.
